[The first shot of this video is... leaves. Surprisingly green leaves, for the season. Then the camera switches and there's Royce, sitting in a tree in the middle of winter. He's bundled up at least, but the background behind him is... moving? The smoke from his cigarette traces patterns through the air.]

[Then he points the camera down and it becomes clear that he's on a Torterra, though one that's oddly colored. The camera swings back to him again and he - well, he doesn't quite smile but it's close.]

Fascinating! Absolutely... absolutely fascinating! I had no idea that the tortoise I received would become something so... massive. I think... well, it's not the most... unexpected evolution I've seen, but... well. He's certainly different than what I thought.

I'm... wondering... what's the most... unusual evolution of a Pokemon that you're aware of? It's... it's quite interesting to me, this whole... evolution concept. It seems like there's a good deal of energy that's let off, too much... I wonder...

[Unfortunately he doesn't have the resources to deal with that kind of thing... but still. It's interesting to think about. He gazes off into the distance for a few more moments before he looks down at the Pokegear, startled, and turns it off.]

[Jimmy honestly isn't sure if he's ever seen Royce this excited about anything, and that- coupled with the fact that he's...up in a tree- is enough to make him want to respond to this.]

As for evolutions, well...gosh, they're all so cool I dunno if I could say any one is more unexpected than another. But if I had to pick, I'd prolly say that I didn't think Inferno would get as big as she did when she evolved from Larvesta to Volcarona.

I don't know if I'd call it the most unusual, but I still think the most drastic one that I've seen is Gyarados! I mean, for little Magikarp to become so big and powerful after all of that training...I can't help but still be really proud of my Marlin, even though he evolved so long ago!

The first one that comes to mind is Dragonair to Dragonite. Dragonair is a long, spindly creature that resembles a graceful serpent. Dragonite is...

[She turns her gear and shows off Spike the Dragonite, who waves cheerfully and a little dopily at the camera.]

Wow. That certainly is a drastic change in size.

[Hm...] All the evolutions I've seen haven't been too odd, but I always thought it was interesting how different Gallade and Gardevoir look, considering they evolve from the same pokemon.

... Gallade is a male-only evolution? That seems... odd.

Isn't it? My Kirlia, when she evolved, was quite happy to evolve into a Gardevoir, so I didn't think much of it at the time. But it does seem a bit odd that only males will evolve when exposed to the stone.

... I honestly have no idea how that works, considering male and female Kirlia are exactly the same, though... [she lets out a small laugh.] I've more or less given up on trying to make sense of some of the things that happen here.

I see. I have a few that act... more gentle than you might expect. My Onix, for example, just likes to become a defensive wall for the group.

Mm. Gender is a... tricky thing. I suppose it's no one else's business what your... Pokemon decide to evolve into. Though communicating with them more effectively so you could figure it out would be... helpful.

... I can understand that, I suppose. It should be their choice and theirs alone to decide when and how they wish to evolve. After all, even though they look like animals, they're all very intelligent individuals with their own feelings. It would be wrong to make them be something they don't wish to be.

I agree. It took my - well, they're a Magneton now, but... it took my Magnemite a while to evolve, even after they... should have. I suppose they were waiting... for the right time.

I mean, I'm sure they wouldn't be so aggressive if people treated them a little better when they were Magikarp! I mean, really, even the Pokedex isn't exactly nice to the guys.

Yeah, it's quite the change. Especially in comparison to the Dratini to Dragonair evolution, which really reminded me more of a child growing up than anything. But they don't seem to mind it... then again, Spike's so easygoing he probably would have been fine with just about anything. And I suppose he probably was quite pleased to actually have limbs.

Bianca is... not exactly the most friendly of Pokemon. She prefers to be treated very respectfully. I've been trying to break her of that habit.

I suppose. Most of my Pokemon seem to just live to make things difficult for me.

I have... one Pokemon that can likely learn Fly, but I don't know that she's really large enough for it.
